Copper coating
The steel wire can be copper coated by chemical displacement in a copper sulfate bath where the copper ions are replacing the iron ones on the surface of the wire. However once the steel is covered by a thin copper layer the reaction stops. In case a higher coating is requested electrolytic copper coating is necessary.
As for every coating process, it is important to have the wire clean before copper coating, this is usually done with an ultrasonic or electrolytic cleaning.
After the copper coating operation, it is essential to thoroughly rinse the wire to remove any chemical residual. Sirio Wire has developed a special system working with pressurized water that allows the best rinsing effect.
All Sirio Wire equipment is fitted with a special mechanical drop trap and very effective air wiping devices to limit the liquid drag out to an absolute minimum.
